WelcomeWelcome to the Humane Society of Tom Green County website. We are a nonprofit organization with one salaried employee and a volunteer working/governing Board of Directors. We have an office located inside of the San Angelo City Shelter. We are not the city shelter, and we do not operate the city shelter, nor receive funds from the city or county. We operate solely from donations, grants, and funds with the assistance of many hard working, committed volunteers. Our vision is to end euthanasia of adoptable animals with the aim that no healthy companion animal will be euthanized for lack of a home, for lack of space, for lack of compassion. The Humane Society moves toward its goal of a new facility. When we began fundraising in 2004, the Board committed to a “No Kill” Animal Shelter. While fundraising progressed, we did not have sufficient funds to both construct and operate the envisioned building. In recent years communities across America retained their commitment to no kill animal services, but shifted tactics to eliminating the source of so many unwanted animals. They now focus on low-cost spay & neuter services. Austin, Houston, Dallas and Victoria are such cities. The Board retains its commitment to housing “No Kill” adoption services in our new building, however we plan to emphasize affordable spay/neuter services. Education will be a key component of our new facility. Capital funds raised remain segregated and dedicated for the new multiuse facility. The Humane Society is working with the City of San Angelo and Tom Green County on the land for the facility. We’re currently searching for an Executive Director with the skills to bring the building to life and operate a multiuse facility. Get InvolvedBecome a Volunteer (Next Orientation: TBA) and Participate in Mobile Adoptions, Flea & Tick Dips, Educational seminars, or socialize with a City Shelter animal. Conscientious volunteers work hard every day on behalf of God's creatures. Volunteers are the backbone of the Humane Society of Tom Green County. We welcome those with love, caring and energy to devote to our mission. That can be as a volunteer, member, pet adopter, donor, foster parent, or a Board Member. Links of Interest
