We are a nonprofit organization with one salaried employee and a volunteer working/governing Board of Directors. We have an office located inside of the San Angelo City Shelter. We are not the city shelter, and we do not operate the city shelter, nor receive funds from the city or county. We operate solely from donations, grants, and funds with the assistance of many hard working, committed volunteers. Our vision is to end euthanasia of adoptable animals with the aim that no healthy companion animal will be euthanized for lack of a home, for lack of space, for lack of compassion. The Humane Society hired Jenie Wilson as Executive Director in August of 2009, and under her leadership and skill, the Humane Society has acquired land and a building through a generous donor. The future site of the HSTGC is 910 W. 14th Street. The HSTGC's mission of a multiuse facility will be operational the beginning of October 2010. Get InvolvedBecome a Volunteer (Next Orientation: TBA) and Participate in Mobile Adoptions, Flea & Tick Dips, Educational seminars, or socialize with a City Shelter animal. Conscientious volunteers work hard every day on behalf of God's creatures. Volunteers are the backbone of the Humane Society of Tom Green County.
